The winners of the 2016 Queensland Supply Chain & Logistics Awards have been announced at the 17th Queensland Supply Chain and Logistics Conference.

The Future Leaders Award was presented to Nathan Sugars, SEQ Network Coordinator, LION Dairy & Drinks. Nathan has been responsible for implementing transport management software for Lion that has enabled transparency for the business, achieved DIFOT (delivered in-full, on-time) and cost targets. This system is to be rolled out nationally. A High Commendation was awarded to Chayal Ramjee, Principal Procurement Advisor, Chief Procurement Office, Department of Transport and Main Roads.

The Industry Excellence Award went to Nikki Barbi, General Manager Fleet & Logistics, Ergon Energy. Nikki has worked in the electricity industry for 28 years and has led strategic projects and initiatives across a number of areas leading to significant cost savings and innovation for her employers. In the 2015 Cyclone Marcia response, her team established a temporary warehouse in two days and provided fleet support with provision of fuel stations and pre-operational safety checks.

A High Commendation was awarded to Melissa Taylor, Managing Director, Taylors Removals Storage.

The Supply Chain Management Award was jointly awarded to Haymans Electrical and ScuzzTrans.

The Training, Education & Development Award was presented to All Purpose Transport in recognition of its ongoing commitment to Project APT, which was established in 2012 to train its entire workforce.

The 2016 Information Management Award was won by the Chief Procurement Office, Department of Transport and Main Roads, for its project which focused on improving the quality of its procurement data — based on the premise that the cleaner the data that enters the system, the more confidence CPO can have in relying on it for analytics, decision-making and reporting.

The Queensland SCL Awards are the state feeder program for the Australian Supply Chain and Logistics Awards, which will be held in November.
