Online safety session for Victorian farmers
A free online information session is being run by WorkSafe Victoria, Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions and the Labour Hire Authority that will offer guidance for farmers to ensure they are operating with up-to-date health and safety information.
The event provides growers with the opportunity to ask questions and seek advice on topics that they’re unsure about such as COVID-19 isolation rules, how to account for OHS risks and the legal responsibilities that organisations have for seasonal workers.
“The pandemic has transformed the way farms operate and, as COVID-19 regulations continue to change, the webinar is a wonderful way for duty holders to stay on top of their obligations,” said Narelle Beer, WorkSafe Executive Director of Health and Safety.
Inspectors and officers from WorkSafe, Labour Hire Authority and the Department of Justice and Community Safety will be visiting local farms after the event to conduct compliance checking and to offer advice for dealing with potential health and safety issues.
The online session will run for an hour from 5:00 pm, 9 February. Register for the event here.
