Pure Dairy opens manufacturing plant in Dandenong South
Pure Dairy has officially opened its new world-class dairy plant in Dandenong South, Victoria, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Thursday, 23 October.
Established in 2011, Pure Dairy has evolved over 14 years from a foundation in dairy commodity trading to include a full range of consulting and trade services across international commodity trading, foodservices, manufacturing and retail.
“This new facility has been a vision of mine for nearly a decade,” said Pure Dairy founder and chairman Adrian Josephson during the opening ceremony. “In my younger years, I’d be travelling the world, selling Australian cheeses to the largest cheese converters in Europe and the US. Even then, I knew one day I needed to build something like this here in Australia.”

During the ceremony, Great Lakes Cheese was thanked for supporting Pure Dairy’s growth as an Australian dairy manufacturer and thought leader. External builders Pellicano, internal builders Paul Brady Group, and the Pure Dairy team were also thanked for the vital role they all played in bringing Josephson's vision to life.
The Hon. Colin Brooks, Minister for Industry and Advanced Manufacturing, said the investment in this facility represented the largest private investment in dairy for the past 40 years. “This project will generate some $89 million of economic activity for this region. It’s just extraordinary,” Brooks said.
The 13,000 m2 dairy manufacturing facility is now fully operational, and supplying various dairy products for its key clients such as Subway, Coles, Guzman Y Gomez and Betty Burgers.
The Deputy Mayor of the City of Greater Dandenong, Cr Sophie Tan, said, “It’s clear that this isn’t just bricks and mortar. It’s a statement. A statement of where Pure Dairy is heading — strengthening supply chains, expanding capacity and investing in the future of Australian manufacturing. What I admire about Pure Dairy is that this achievement didn’t happen overnight. It represents years of dedication, collaboration and the belief that you can do business with insight, integrity and long-term vision.”
In addition to the manufacturing plant, the facility also houses the headquarters of Pure Dairy’s trade, foodservice and retail divisions.
