In-head Foundation Fieldbus temperature controller

Sunday, 01 June, 2008 | Supplied by: Endress+Hauser Australia Pty Ltd

Endress+Hauser has released an in-head Foundation Fieldbus-based temperature controller and transmitter with two input channels. The iTemp TMT85 offers universal temperature input capabilities, including RTDs, thermocouples or voltage and is suitable for use with 2-, 3- and 4-wire sensor technology.

The instrument automatically detects the type of sensors connected for self-configuration. The device also offers sensor diagnostics with the ability to monitor open circuit, cable corrosion, wiring errors and device hardware errors. With galvanic isolation between the Foundation Fieldbus and sensor inputs and for hazardous area use, the transmitter offers accurate and reliable temperature measurements in a wide variety of applications.

The ability to connection two temperature sensors to the iTemp TMT85 provides redundancy of measurement and measurement availability should either sensor fail. Another advantage of the dual sensor capability is the ability to compared various performance parameters and provide diagnostics in case of sensor drift.
