Hygienic optical sensor system

The Wenglor InoxSens range of optical sensors provides a selection of hygienic sensors for the food and beverage and pharmaceuticals industries.

The system fuses sensor and machine technology. The InoxSens range integrates Wenglor’s sensors into a rugged housing made of medical quality stainless steel. All InoxSens products are waterproof and fully resistant to chemicals, and can be cleaned using high-pressure cleaning systems. The system features IP68 and IP69K protection.

The sensors were designed using the eggshell principle: as there are no recesses or crevices, water, chemicals and contamination run off completely without damaging the shell or accumulating in recesses. This is made possible by a laser-welded housing made of V4A stainless steel (1.4404/316L), which is corrosion free and resistant to cleaning agents.

The optics incorporated in the sensors are made of glass or plastic and are attached in a captive fashion. When sensors are installed or adjusted, they retain their gap-free unity with the machine: they’re mounted in a seamless fashion by means of mounting tubes with InoxLock. InoxLock secures the systems without screws. Sensor adjustment is also hygienic, as adjustment is accomplished through the hermetically sealed housing using ‘Touch Teach-in’.
