Belden releases I/O module in Lumberg Automation range for decentralised Fieldbus system LioN-Link
Belden has released an I/O module in its Lumberg Automation range specifically for the decentralised Fieldbus system LioN-Link. The module (0942 UEM 612) fulfills protection class requirements IP67 and has four digital M12 slots with a higher limit on the output voltage, permitting 2 A per line and 6 A in total. Using the I/O module, safety-related outputs can be switched off directly in the field without the need for an additional terminal box.
These outputs are designed for safety-related applications up to performance level D, making this I/O module suitable for failsafe control of actuators or, following a complete switch-off of the 24 V output power supply, reliable emergency off functions.
Terminal equipment can be connected directly to the I/O module so there is no need for terminal boxes, which can be comparatively expensive and complicated to install. This makes it possible to implement cost-effective safety solutions that can be used, for example, in mechanical engineering applications or in the assembly and handling sector.
Depending on the selected LioN-Link bus coupler, the I/O module can be used in Profinet, Profibus, DeviceNet or CANopen networks. Belden claims that setting up the modules is easy, because LioN-Link systems do not use slave address assignments and do not require terminating resistors.
The sturdy housing measures 182.4 x 30 x 28.4 mm and weighs only 200 g. The module also features a temperature range of 10 to +60°C, good vibration and shock resistance plus a power supply configured for a voltage range of 19 - 30 DC.
