Waste compacting for meat packer

The first Morinders Brickman B900K briquette press in Australia was purchased by Victorian meat packing company SRS last year. The company needed an efficient method of disposing of cardboard boxes in the wet room where staff unpack meat.

To reduce the footprint of the B900K so that it could fit in the wet room, Orwak Australia carried out modifications so that the power pack was elevated on a subframe above the press. It also upgraded the B900K's electricals to the IP65 standard to cope with the room's moisture level.

Boxes are thrown into the B900K's 2 m3 feeding hopper, and the briquetting process is activated by means of a photocell. The resultant extrusions, which measure 100 mm2, are dropped through a chute into a standard 660 L waste bin.
