Mondelēz launches on-pack QR code for Cadbury brand

Mondelēz International has launched Snacking Right, a mobile-friendly digital platform for Cadbury fans in Australia. The platform provides current recycling and packaging disposal information about the company’s commitment to mindful snacking and sustainable sourcing, accessible through on-pack QR codes.

The QR codes will be progressively appearing across the Cadbury chocolate range, with the concept set to expand into further brands and products in the future.

As return-to-store programs and local recycling infrastructure evolve, the platform will provide updated information.

It also includes information about the brand’s Cadbury Dairy Milk blocks wrapped in 30% recycled content and further efforts to support a circular packaging economy.

Darren O’Brien, Mondelēz International President Australia, said, “Our goal is to build a more sustainable snacking company in Australia, by providing consumers with clear recycling and disposal information. Whilst other disposal programs have come and gone, Snacking Right is Mondelēz’s very own digital solution to engage consumers about our sustainability progress and how we can all play a role in reducing our impact on the environment.”

The platform introduces users to Mindful Snacking, an approach developed in collaboration with behavioural scientists and eating experts. It includes tools and activities to enjoy chocolate more mindfully. It also highlights Mondelēz International’s commitment to sustainable sourcing. Featured is farmer Darren Fielding and his family, who farm 320 Friesen cows in Tasmania’s north-west and have been supplying Cadbury for three generations.

“My family is beyond proud to be supplying Cadbury with our milk, and putting smiles on millions of faces for decades now,” Fielding said. “With the QR code now on-pack, Aussies can learn a little bit more about us, our history and the role we play in creating such iconic products.”

The platform also provides information on Cocoa Life, Mondelēz International’s sustainable cocoa sourcing program.
