Yoghurt product recalled due to choking hazard
Kiwigarden brand has recalled specific batches of its Greek Style Yoghurt Drops and Whole Blueberries, due to the size of blueberry pieces which could pose a choking hazard to children. This recall is supported by New Zealand Food Safety.
Vincent Arbuckle, New Zealand Food Safety Deputy Director said the product could be unsafe for children due to the size of some of the blueberry pieces.
There has been one report of choking involving a child, which is being investigated by New Zealand Food Safety. The child has recovered.
The affected product is sold at selected retail outlets and supermarkets throughout New Zealand.
It is being removed from stores. Anyone who has it at home should return it to their place of purchase for a full refund or throw it out.
“We’ll look into this more with the food manufacturer, but in the meantime it’s a good reminder that it’s always good practice for parents to double check the size of any food they are feeding to a child is appropriate,” Arbuckle said.
