‘4+ serves a day’ campaign launched
The ‘4+ serves a day’ campaign provides food manufacturers an easily recognisable logo to use on the labels of grain-based food products.
The campaign supports the Australian dietary guidelines by encouraging a healthy diet with the recommended 4+ servings of grain-based foods every day.
An initiative of Go Grains Health & Nutrition, Australia’s independent nutrition advisor on the benefits of grain-based foods in human health, the campaign will aid consumers in identifying and choosing healthy grain-based foods.
All food products that display the logo must meet set criteria that ensure they are nutritionally sound and consistent with established healthy dietary principles.
The campaign organisers also recommend that at least half of the servings should be from wholegrain products. However, the logo and program does not yet make a distinction between wholegrain and refined grain foods.
