FSANZ calls for comment on proposed amendments
Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) is seeking comment on a proposal to make minor amendments to the Food Standards Australia New Zealand Code. These amendments will seek to correct typographical errors, omissions, inconsistencies and formatting issues, and to update references in the code.
Sandra Cuthbert, FSANZ CEO, said the proposal would amend notes in the code to reflect the action taken by the New Zealand Government to require the addition of folic acid to all wheat flour sold for bread-making in New Zealand from 13 August 2023.
“The proposed amendments to the code are all relatively straightforward in nature. No potential public health and safety concerns have been identified,” Cuthbert said.
All submissions will published to the FSANZ website at the end of the comment period and all feedback will be considered prior to making a decision.
The period for comment closes on 3 March 2023, at 6 pm (AEDT).
