Coca-Cola to exit beer and cider market in Australia
Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Australia (CCEP), formerly Coca-Cola Amatil, has announced that it will exit the beer and cider market.
The company will cease the production, sales and distribution of beer and cider products. CCEP was previously distributing brewed brands such as Coors, Magners Apple Cider and Feral.
The beverage conglomerate said that it is moving on from the brewed market in order to place more emphasis on its spirits and (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) ready-to-drink brands.
As part of this new strategy, agreements and contracts in place with C&C Group and Molson Coors will not be renewed when they lapse within the next year. CCEP has also announced that it will be selling its craft beer brand Feral Brewing Company, which was bought back in 2017.
A minor exception to this news is that the Rekorderlig and Australian Bitters brands will live on in CCEP’s portfolio, fitting into the spirits and ready-to-drink brands.
