Four West Australian manufacturers are taking advantage of the government’s Clean Technology Investment Programs to install more than $4.8 million worth of energy-efficient equipment that will increase energy efficiency, reduce power bills and improve competitiveness.

Naturaliste Vintners is upgrading two of its refrigeration units to use more environmentally friendly hydrocarbon gases. With grant money it was awarded, the company will also insulate wine tanks with stainless steel.

Canon Foods will convert two electronically heated components of its processing line to a more efficient gas-fired thermal oil system, reducing its site-wide carbon emissions intensity by 39.9%.

Supa Stik Labels and Labelling Systems will reduce its carbon emissions intensity by over 31% by upgrading and replacing ageing and power-intensive printing presses with digital presses.

And garden products supplier Richgro is installing a waste-to-energy plant at its main manufacturing facility that will allow it to generate all its power on-site. This will help the company receive and process a more diverse stream of organic waste, including food waste diverted from landfill.

Around 3000 projects in total are expected to be supported by the Clean Technology Investment Programs over the coming years.
