Corn Products International changes name to Ingredion

Saturday, 03 March, 2012

Pending shareholder approval at its annual meeting in May, global ingredient provider Corn Products International will be changing its name to Ingredion.

The company announced the decision in a media release on 23 February, saying that “the new name was conceived to better reflect its position as a leading global supplier of ingredient solutions to a range of industries”. The global strategy that saw the company acquire National Starch in 2010 has prompted the name change.

“The first part of the name represents ‘ingredients’, while the second part has its roots in the Greek word that means ‘something that goes’,” explained CEO Ilene Gordon. “It says clearly that we’re an ingredients solutions company.”

A proposal to approve the change will be included in the company’s proxy statement for its annual meeting, due to be released in early April. The company anticipates a global transition to its new brand and logo over the next two years, with all geographies using the Ingredion brand by late 2013.
