CHEP Australia has been awarded bronze status in the NSW Government’s Sustainability Advantage Program in recognition of its commitment to sustainability. The NSW Minister for the Environment and Heritage, Robyn Parker, presented CHEP with the award on 23 July.

“We are proud to be recognised for our sustainability performance through the NSW Sustainability Advantage program,” said Kate Parsons, CHEP Australia Sustainability Manager. “CHEP is committed to delivering sustainability value by doing the right thing for the environment, people and the community and our participation in the Sustainability Advantage Program demonstrates this.”

Parsons said CHEP’s sustainability strategy, which aims to reduce carbon emissions, minimise waste, increase recycling and minimise water use, was instrumental in achieving the bronze status.

The company also reports under the Australian Packaging Covenant, the global Carbon Disclosure Project and the federal government’s National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting program and supplies its customers with auditable data to support their reporting needs.

The NSW Sustainability Advantage Program is working with more than 540 NSW businesses, which have collectively saved 57,929 MWh of electricity, 294,671 GJ of natural gas, 2478 ML of water and 34,644 tonnes of waste in the last four years - equivalent to 50,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.
