Friday, 22 February, 2013

The 20th Australian HACCP Conference will be held 27-29 August 2013 in Melbourne. The conference will explore a range of topics, including Australia’s role in a global marketplace, Australian technical updates and new issues for food export.

The format of the event has changed from 2012 to include concurrent sessions, allowing attendees to select the topics most relevant to their business and role.

Two key speakers have been confirmed for the event. Major General John Hartley AO (Retired) will speak about global food security in the 21st century and Australia’s role. He will explore such questions as Australia’s role in helping alleviate possible future world crises in the supply of safe, quality food in the face of issues like population growth, food security, water scarcity, climate change and governmental policies.

Greg Warren, General Manager of Foodbank Australia, will deliver a presentation entitled ‘Food scarcity in Australia: Quality food supply in times of individual and community crisis’. Warren will outline the complex and vital task of distributing safe, quality food to the community, for both everyday nutritional requirements and community supply in times of natural disaster.
