Amcor orders certified-circular polymers for packaging
Amcor has placed its first commercial order of certified-circular polymers for use in packaging for the Australian and New Zealand market.
This order will support partial displacement of fossil-based feedstock and help meet growing demand for plastic circularity.
Identical to those made from conventional fossil feedstock, the polymers have been developed by ExxonMobil using its Exxtend technology. They are certified with the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS. The polymers can be used in existing applications that otherwise require the use of virgin resins.
Richard Smith, Amcor Sustainability Director, Asia Pacific, said this is a step towards achieving circularity and meeting Australia’s National 2025 Packaging Targets.
Kwee-Lin Chan, General Manager, Asia Pacific Advanced Recycling and Sustainability at ExxonMobil, said the company looks forward to continuing to work with Amcor and develop products that support the circular economy.
