Xyris Software has recently released FoodWorks Nutrition Labelling 2009 (Version 6) software for use by food companies for producing nutrition labels under the Food Standards Code.

From the user’s recipe data, the software automatically generates nutrition labels that include nutrition information panels, serve information and ingredient, warning, advisory and allergen statements. Other information, such as preparation and storage instructions, can also be included. Labels can be formatted and refined and then published in a variety of ways, eg, printed directly to a label printer, integrated into labels via the user’s existing label-printing software, published via Microsoft Word or exported to Microsoft Access.

Features for managing recipe data include, for example, when a raw material is changed, the recipes containing the raw material are automatically updated. It is also easy to see where any raw material is in use. It also assists with developing new products, enabling the user to quickly test the effect of varying a recipe’s formulation on its nutrient analysis.

Software features include streamlined handling of ingredient declarations, user-defined ingredient groups and a new dynamic Label window.
