Quantab Chloride strips for salt content determination

Quantab salt is a simple method for measuring salt in food using reagent plastic strips. Only basic equipment and training is required.

The system is suitable for determining quantitative salt levels quickly in cheese, meat products or any food product or beverage.

Users simply use hot water to dissolve the chloride in the food sample, then dip the strip in the sample and compare the length of the colour change to a printed scale.

The Quantab Chloride strip is placed in aqueous solutions and fluid rises up the strip by capillary action. When the strip is completely saturated, a moisture-sensitive string across the top of the titrator turns dark blue. The strip contains silver ions, which combine with chloride in the sample to form a white column of silver chloride. The length of the white column (silver chloride) in the strip is proportional to the chloride ion concentration.

The test ranges from 30-600 mg/mL in 10-20 ppm increments, covering most salt levels in food.

Each lot of Quantab strips is calibrated independently, so the chloride concentration chart on separate bottles may differ.
