Tour highlights heat pump technologies for beverage makers
The Australian Alliance for Energy Productivity (A2EP) is leading a bus tour from Melbourne to the Mornington Peninsula on 20 March, which will include a visit to see the heat pump system at Port Phillip Estate and Kooyong Wines.
Following the visit to the winery, the tour will visit Energy Smart Water's heat pump training facility in Dromana to learn more about the technologies and applications, before the tour concludes with a visit to Brick Lane Brewing to see its Dandenong facility and hear about the brewer's decarbonisation journey and plans.
With Australian beverage (and food) manufacturers under pressure from high energy costs, the tour aims to show how commercial heat pump technologies can serve the majority of process heat needs in beverage and food manufacturing, and also provide cooling and chilling.
"The food and beverage sector is ideal for electrification with heat pumps as a way to decarbonise [and] escape the pressure and pain of gas prices," said Jarrod Leak, CEO of A2EP.
"We're seeing more and more businesses making the switch to heat pumps, which are now able to provide output temperatures of up 280°C. They allow manufacturers to put waste heat to work and even enable revenue generation from flexible demand programs.
"On this tour we'll be visiting one of the best systems in Australia and hearing from experts who understand the particularly energy and process needs of the F&B sector."
