FSANZ application for milk processing aid
Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has called for submissions on an application to permit a new processing aid.
The applicant is seeking to permit the use of an agarose ion exchange resin to extract lactoferrin from milk.
“This processing aid is already used elsewhere in the world to extract the lactoferrin from milk for use as an ingredient in other products,” said FSANZ Chief Executive Officer Steve McCutcheon.
“FSANZ has assessed the application and determined there are no public health and safety concerns associated with its use.”
FSANZ invites comments from government agencies, public health professionals, industry and the community. The closing date for submissions is 29 March 2016.
