'Be-LEAF' in paper — first vertical form fill and seal machine for paper

GKS Leaf Machine, launched in 2020, is the first vertical form, fill and seal machine that has been specifically developed to produce paper bags out of 100% recyclable and compostable paper mono material.

Not just modified from an existing machine, the Leaf has been specifically designed to achieve acceptable results when producing paper bags. The result — a perfect seal under high pressure, stable paper transport, perfect shaping, and optimum folding of the bag with its ability to produce, fill and close bags from flat paper from the roll.

LEAF excels in optimised sealing pressure, paper handling and tracking with a special former set and is equipped with an in-line mesh applicator to produce bags with a netting behind the window.

Supplied by Select Equip, GKS Leaf Machine can produce a large range in pack sizes (190 mm up to 400 mm bag width) and a capacity up to 35 bags per minute — it is the perfect machine for all paper applications. In the standard configuration, it produces both pillow and stand up bags.

With sustainable packaging such an important step within the food industry, it’s not only designed for paper, but the CO₂ footprint and the environment have also been taken into account, and its revolutionary design is constructed out of stainless steel and other recyclable materials and is partly built out of recycled OCEAN PLASTIC, thus helping to reduce plastic waste.

LEAF is also the first vertical form fill seal machine with iPad interfaces on both sides of the machine offering easy access and worldwide availability at low costs. The open modular design comes standard on the machine with this modular construction guaranteeing that each module can be exchanged within minutes, which creates a reduction in downtime and costs during maintenance work. Options and components can be retrofitted easily and quickly.
