Tasmanian distillery wins global award for best design
Tasmania’s LARK Distillery has been recognised at the 2026 World Whiskies Awards for the distinctive design of its new packaging.
The distillery won World’s Best Design and Best Range Design for its Single Malt portfolio, presented in new livery with each malt housed in a redesigned 700 mL bottle.
The skylark forms the basis of the design, with its sweeping ascent inspiring the bottle’s sculpted silhouette. The hero illustration weaves the skylark with native Tasmanian flora — blue gum, tanglefoot and tree ferns — depicting the island’s wild beauty and symbolising the whiskey’s provenance.

LARK said the design restage highlights what has always defined the brand: uncompromising Tasmanian provenance, obsessive attention to flavour, and a spirit of New World creativity.
The new 700 mL bottle aligns with international standards and is intended to position LARK among the world’s finest whiskies, while retaining the distinctive shoulders of the original 500 mL flask as a nod to the brand’s heritage.
“This is a magnificent award and great recognition for our whole team, particularly for the crew in marketing,” said Stuart Gregor, LARK Managing Director and CEO.
“I think it’s fair to say that the packaging of the new whiskies now matches the incredible quality of what’s on the inside. Someone said you should always dress for the role you want and we want to be recognised as one of the great whiskies in the world, and we can now confidently say we are well dressed for the role!”
The award coincides with the official launch of LARK’s new portfolio of four expressions. Available now from the distillery and LARK’s Hobart venues, the range will roll out to premium bars, select retailers, e-commerce platforms, Global Travel Retail and Europe throughout 2026.
