Moët Hennessy acquires 50% of JAY-Z's champagne brand

Moët Hennessy has announced a partnership with US rapper and businessman Shawn ‘JAY-Z’ Carter by acquiring a 50% stake in his champagne brand.

Armand de Brignac, known colloquially as ‘Ace of Spades’ for its golden bottle design, was bought by the rapper in 2014.

The champagne has a strong presence in North America, Asia and Europe, and sold more than half a million bottles in 2019.

JAY-Z said he is confident in the deal because of the “sheer power” of the Moët Hennessy global distribution framework.

Some bottles in the Armand de Brignac’s Brut Gold range are listed for more than $500 in Australia.
