Market access for Australian blueberries in Vietnam
Three years in the making, a market access deal for Australian blueberries in Vietnam has been secured by the Albanese Labor government, with trade expected to be worth approximately $22 million over 5 years. The two-way agreement will also create access to Vietnamese pomelos for Australian consumers.
Accessing the Vietnamese market, a nation with a population of over 100 million, will significantly boost Australia’s $500 million blueberry industry. New market access for Australian blueberries to Vietnam will be valued at approximately $4 million in the first year and approximately $22 million within 5 years.
“Australia’s hardworking, innovative blueberry producers should be proud of the fruit they grow, which is sought after all around the world,” said Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Julie Collins MP.
“This agreement is a result of both the quality of our produce, and the strength of our relationship with Vietnam.”
