Hewitt set to acquire beef processing company Nolan Meats

Australian organic meat producer Hewitt has entered into an agreement to acquire family-owned Australian beef processing company Nolan Meats.

Established in 1987, Hewitt is a family business that has grown to become one of Australia’s largest organic meat producers. In 2014, brothers Mike and Ben Hewitt took over the running of the business —implementing environmental, social and governance actions (carbon, biodiversity, natural capital and regenerative agriculture) throughout their supply chains. This included using sustainable recyclable paper-based trays for its Cleaver’s brand of meat, which is certified organic, carbon neutral and free range with high animal welfare standards.

Founded in 1958, Nolan Meats is an Australian integrated export beef processing company located in Gympie, Queensland. The family business has been focused on producing quality grain-fed beef for delivery to retailers, further processors, wholesalers and international markets. Beef products from its abattoir are distributed around Australia and exported to many markets, including Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Middle East, Taiwan and the US.

Hewitt’s acquisition of Nolan Meats remains subject to customary conditions and applicable regulatory approvals.

Following the transfer of ownership, the Nolan Meat operations will continue at the existing facility in Gympie, Queensland.

The transaction is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026.
