Farm to fork business strategies at Agriworld 2015

Monday, 13 April, 2015

Exponential growth in affluence of the middle classes in Asia, regional population growth and new trade agreements with China, Japan and Korea offer Australia’s agribusiness sector the potential to increase its agricultural and food-based exports by more than 45% over the next few years.

But to achieve this growth, the industry must overcome substantial production, processing and supply challenges from international markets, as well as understand how emerging innovations and technologies and improved business strategy can enhance farm production, food processing and the broader Australian agrifood supply chain.

Agriworld Australia 2015 aims to provide technologists, manufacturers, buyers and investors from the agribusiness sector with a face-to-face business forum to improve their farm-to-fork efficiency and a program focused on fostering future food manufacturing and export opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region.

The conference and exhibition will be held from16-17 July at the Sydney Showground at Sydney Olympic Park.

“Agriworld will deliver the sector the platform required to take advantage of business opportunities throughout the Asia-Pacific region, address production challenges and maximise value at all stages of the supply chain,” said Anthony Reed, event director of Agriworld Australia.

Structured around four pillars - Agriinvest, Agritech, Agrinext and Agritrade - which directly correlate to key segments of the agriculture and agribusiness industries, the forum will consist of various educational, knowledge-sharing and networking opportunities targeted at generating improvement in Australian agriculturalists’ business performance.

Keynote speakers include the Shadow Minister for Agriculture MP Joel Fitzgibbon, CEO of the Laguna Bay Pastoral Company Tim McGavin and Science Director of the Agriculture Flagship CSIRO Dr Brian Keating. The Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales will also act as host for the two-day event.
