Consultation meetings to clarify regulations under Food Act 2014
The New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has announced it will run a series of consultation meetings to explain proposals for regulations under the Food Act 2014. The meetings will give stakeholders an opportunity to learn about the proposals and ask any questions on the topic.
The proposals apply to certain food businesses covered by food sectors identified in Schedule 1 and 2 of the Food Act. They include requirements for registration and auditing of business, requirements to ensure food is safe and suitable, requirements for importers of food, cost recovery, infringements, exemptions and how existing businesses will make the transition from the Food Act 1981 to the Food Act 2014.
The consultations will be held throughout February across New Zealand. Interested parties do not need to register their attendance in advance - just turn up on the day.
