Pomegranate powders and extracts

The power of the healthful pomegranate is now available from VDF FutureCeuticals through its VitaGranate family of products. Research has indicated that pomegranate may offer support for humans, especially concerning coronary and cardiovascular health.

The VitaGranate family of products is claimed to capture the powerful activity and healthy benefits of pomegranate. Products include Pomegranate Whole Fruit Powder (N291), Pomegranate Whole Fruit Powder 5% Ellagic Acid (N291.1), Pomegranate Extract 40% Ellagic Acid (N174), Pomegranate Extract 40% Punicalagins (N420) and Pomegranate Organic Whole Fruit Powder (N589).

VitaGranate Pomegranate Extract 40% Ellagic Acid (N174) has been tested in vitro and found to promote the inhibition of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE). High activity or concentration of ACE in the blood is associated with high blood pressure, making it a marker for cardiovascular and respiratory disease.

In vitro testing on VitaGranate Pomegranate Extract 40% Punicalagins (N420) found the product promoted the inhibition of the soluble epoxide hydrolase (SEH) blood enzyme. High activity of sEH is associated with hypertension and inflammation.

Pomegranate has a high content of antioxidants, particularly tannins and flavonoids. Ellagic acid is also present in pomegranate and is reported to be a bioactive compound. The combination of ellagic acid with punicic acid has shown promise for support of prostate health.

Published clinical studies have shown that patients treated with ellagic acid exhibited lower levels of side effects related to chemotherapy.
