New Chair of the Western Australian Meat Industry Authority Board
WA Agriculture and Food Minister Jackie Jarvis announced the appointment of Louise Holding as Chair of the Western Australian Meat Industry Authority (WAMIA) Board on 24 August.
Holding brings more than 20 years of experience in strategic leadership, governance, stakeholder engagement and public policy, having worked across corporate, government, philanthropic and not-for-profit sectors. Her career has included senior leadership roles with the Minderoo Foundation, Harvest Road Group, WA Health, the Disability Services Commission and as Chief of Staff to the Environment Minister.
Established in 1976, WAMIA is a statutory authority which plays a critical role in supporting Western Australia’s red meat supply chain through the operation of the Muchea Livestock Centre and the provision of regulatory assurance services for export abattoirs and meat processors.
“Western Australia’s livestock and meat industries support thousands of jobs, particularly across our regional communities, and make a significant contribution to the state’s economy,” Jarvis said.
“Ms Holding brings extensive leadership and governance experience to the role, and I look forward to working with her as WAMIA continues to support a strong and sustainable meat industry in WA.”
As Chair, Holding will lead the Board in overseeing the Authority’s strategic direction and supporting the continued delivery of efficient, transparent and sustainable services to industry and the community.
