As demand for protein and cooked poultry products continues to increase, Cargill is investing over US$130 million over next two years to expand its poultry operations across Asia. The investment encompasses capacity and efficiency enhancements across its poultry network in Thailand and the Philippines.
A key component of the investment is the deployment of advanced technologies to optimise production processes and expand the production capacity in Thailand. The initiative includes a new automated cooked chicken production line at Cargill’s poultry processing plant in Saraburi, expected to be completed in 2028. Over next two years, the company will be making technological upgrades, incorporating state-of-the-art machinery and integrating AI into data processing to drive faster, more accurate decision-making. These advancements will also help to elevate company’s rigorous food quality and safety management systems.
The company currently exports cooked poultry products from Thailand to Japan, Europe, Asia and North America. With this expansion, Cargill’s total cooked volume is expected to increase to approximately 160,000 metric tons.
Cargill is also constructing a 30,000 metric ton grain silo in Thailand, which is expected to be completed by early 2027.
In the Philippines, Cargill is constructing a feed mill with a production capacity of 190,000 metric tons annually, which is expected to be completed by late 2027.
