TSC Hygiene Sponge

Screening for pathogens such as Listeria or Salmonella often requires sampling large surface areas. While most microbiological sampling is done with a traditional swab, the only way to really look at large areas is with a sponge swab.

The Hygiene Sponge from TSC comes with a reversible bag, which eliminates the need for using sterile gloves and reduces the cost of the test.

The user simply needs to grip the sponge and pull the bag back over itself, take the sample, and then flip the bag back the right way, reseal it and the sample is ready for immediate testing or transport back to the lab.

Increasing the convenience of taking a sponge swab is a major step forward to reducing contamination of samples and increasing compliance with a testing program.

The Hygiene Sponge is ready to use, premoistened with neutralising buffer, designed to counter the effects of residual amounts of sanitiser that may be left behind on surfaces, which can affect recovery of organisms.
