Packaging recyclability event

Australian Institute of Packaging

Monday, 15 February, 2016

The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) NSW has announced its Technical Lounge event for March — Understanding the Australian Recycling Label & the Packaging Recyclability Evaluation Portal.

In August 2015, Planet Ark launched the Australian Recycling Label (ARL), underpinned by evidence from the Packaging Recyclability Evaluation Portal, or PREP, which was developed by GreenChip and Planet Ark. The Technical Lounge will include presentations from two of the organisations who have led this initiative, so that packaging designers are better equipped to contribute actively to the recycling revolution. The presentations will then be followed by a panel discussion.

Paul Klymenko, chief executive officer, Planet Ark Environmental Foundation, will present an Introduction To The Australian Recycling Label and an Introduction To The Packaging Recyclability Evaluation Portal (PREP). Paul has worked in the environmental field for over 25 years; he co-founded Planet Ark in 1992 and became its CEO in 2010.

Jackie Smiles MAIP, Environment and Sustainability Manager, Blackmores Ltd, will present a case study from Blackmores — the second company to have adopted the ARL.

The event will be held Wednesday 23 March at Oatlands Golf Course Club House.
