Last call for entries to Save Food Packaging Awards
Don’t forget — submissions for the 2017 Save Food Packaging Awards close on 20 January.
Developed in conjunction with the World Packaging Organisation (WPO), the Save Food Packaging Awards recognise companies in Australia and New Zealand that are developing innovative and sustainable packaging to minimise food losses and food waste, extend shelf life and improve the supply of food.
“The connection between packaging design and food waste needs to be discussed more openly in the industry. From field to fork there are a number of possibilities for food loss and waste to occur. It has been approximated that up to 50% of the edible food produced does not reach the fork,” said award chairman Pierre Pienaar FAIP, CPP.
Entries in the Save Food Packaging Awards will be considered in three categories:
- Agriculture — Industrial.
- Food Services.
- Retail Primary Packaging.
