Food regulation and compliance workshop
The Australian Institute of Food Science Technology (AIFST) together with the Australian Food & Grocery Council (AFGC) will hold one-day events in Sydney and Melbourne in June to provide information about food regulation and compliance.
The first part of the day is a breakfast meeting, open only to AIFST and AFGC members, which will focus on the changes to the latest version of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. Chris Preston (Director, Legal and Regulatory, AFGC) will discuss the implications of the updated code for the food industry, producers, manufacturers and marketers.
The second part of the day, open to all, is a ‘Food Regulations 101’ workshop. Key topic areas to be covered include:
- Mandatory requirements - Food Standards Code and understanding the regulations and obligations of a food manufacturer.
- ACCC.
- Compliance and enforcement.
- Claims - health and premium.
- Product Information Form - how this can help with compliance.
- Product recall and traceability.
