FMCG innovations selected for Seedlab's Cultivate 11 cohort

Seedlab Australia has announced its Cultivate 11 cohort, a group of 13 FMCG startups selected in partnership with Woolworths to take part in a retail-readiness accelerator program.

The announcement follows a competitive selection process, with 20 Bootcamp 11 participants and returning alumni pitching for a place in the program. Final selections were made based on product viability, a strong sense of brand and storytelling, and capacity to scale into national retail.

“We’re not here to make niche products work, unless they are truly innovative,” said Seedlab COO Kenna MacTavish.

“In this round, we’re seeing the rise of value-added FMCG brands that are deeply considered and potentially, truly sustainable in today’s retail environment.”

Simplicity, scalability and purpose drive the latest cohort of FMCG innovations, such as functional food and drinks, accessible wellness and packaging simplicity. The latest cohort is also defined by scalability, with some of the key highlights including:

  • Drink Dodge: a hydration solution targeting post-drinking recovery with functional ingredients
  • Future Swirl: an oat-based ice cream balancing plant-based values with indulgence
  • The Paddington Pantry: pantry staples said to be made with love and simplicity.

“Simplicity is emerging as a powerful trend across both food and home care. Founders are refining their offering, stripping away complexity, and communicating with sharper clarity — whether that’s in ingredients, packaging hierarchy or brand message. This clarity not only helps with cut-through in a saturated market, but also builds the confidence needed to pitch to major retailers,” Kenna said.

The Cultivate 11 program continues to evolve, with new bespoke workshops in cost and margin analysis, packaging and packaging design, branding, consumer activation planning and more.

This year's program has now commenced and will culminate in Seedlab’s annual EXPO, where founders will pitch directly to buyers in the market.
