Amended NZ Animal Products Notice released

As of 1 November 2023, RMP operators in New Zealand are required to have updated their RMPs to align with the Animal Product Regulations 2021 and supplementary Notices.

The redesign of the animal products and wine regulations and notices aims to make it easier for businesses operating under the Animal Products Act 1999 and Wine Act 2003 to find and comply with requirements.

New Zealand Food Safety sought feedback on proposed amendments to the Animal Products Notice: Production Supply and Processing. The proposed amendments featured changes to chapters:

  • C: Good Operating Practice (GOP)
  • D: Dairy
  • F: Red Meat
  • H: Fish
  • K: Honey
  • M: Verification

These included updates to clarify rules, make changes to verification requirements for certain sectors and updates to training requirements.

This consultation period closed on 29 September 2023.

Following consultation, the amendments to the Animal Products Notice: Production, Supply and Processing relating to red meat, seafood, honey, chicken producers and dairy requirements were published.
