SPC Ardmona signs $7m canned fruit deal

Monday, 12 August, 2013

SPC Ardmona has signed a $7 million deal with Woolworths to supply 13 lines of canned fruit from its apricot, peach, apple and pear growers in the Goulburn Valley. Woolworths says the arrangement will benefit local growers as it replaces products sourced from overseas with locally grown fruit.

“We are also sourcing three canned pineapple products from Queensland,” said Managing Director of Supermarkets and Petrol Tjeerd Jegen. “These products replace Select canned fruit lines that were previously imported from South Africa and Thailand.

“Woolworths already range SPC Ardmona’s branded lines (SPC, Goulburn Valley and Ardmona), and they are our single largest supplier of canned fruit. They are a great partner and we’re pleased that together we are getting more Aussie canned fruit on our shelves for our customers to enjoy.”
