The Kronen Vortex-line has been developed for the final treatment stage for vegetables, including leafy salads and root products, and also fruits like apples and grapes. The washing system achieves microbial load reduction and prolongation of shelf life and, consequently, increase of quality of products.

The principle of the washing line is simple: it operates by means of a tubular system (inside diameter 150 mm) with infeed and outfeed opening. The pre-cleaned produce (vegetable, fruit) is poured into a funnel and flushed gently into the system by lateral rotation nozzles. Then the produce flowing through the total tube length is conveyed to the outlet and onto an outfeed belt or vibration belt by means of a water slide. Flexible contact and dwell time of the produce is adjustable from 1 to 3 min.

The modular and space-saving tubular system can be easily integrated into existing salad processing lines and various installation layouts for user specific conditions are possible. For mechanical cleaning the pipelines can be disassembled easily and quickly by means of screw connections.

An optional dosing station can be incorporated to dose and control additives into the product treatment in the water cycle.
