Electronic drive system

Bonfiglioli has introduced a VVVF electronic drive system that integrates within rugged cast aluminium enclosures, electronic control systems for motors and geared motor lines.

The modular drive concept is specified to the international IP66 standard for high levels of water and foreign body protection, mechanical strength for reliability and features such as epoxy encapsulation of the electrical components for humidity and vibration protection.

The packaged gearbox, motor and drive applications, known as LMS or localised motion systems, can be applied to industrial processes including conveyors, cranes, pumps, mixers, thickeners, high-speed doors, metering systems, packaging lines and other equipment that benefits from fine process control.

The localised drive concept reduces or removes cubicle installations as well as negating the requirement for shielded cable normally used between the motor and electronic drives in conventional set-ups. The inverter is already tuned for use with the motors, delivering short commissioning time.

The Vectron LMD (localised motion device) series,which lies at the core of the LMS concept, is a control for electric motors up to 3 kW, complementing the electronic automation drive (EAD) equipment in styles and configurations up to 800 kW.

The new integrated technology includes: inbuilt jumper pin selection set-up for basic control functionality and setting of acceleration and deceleration rates; standard inbuilt speed adjustment potentiometer with indicator LED for simple user interface; optional operator pendant and 2 m cable kit available for more advanced motor control (start/stop, FWD/REV, motor speed up/down) and motor monitoring (rpm, output Hz, output Amps); integrated class A RFI filter; four available digital inputs and one analog input for remote control; additional communication modules (Profibus, DeviceNet, AS-i).
