Connell Brothers has recently added Enzyme Solutions to its food and beverage ingredients portfolio. The company offers a specialised range of ingredients to the food industry including: antioxidants, brewer’s yeast extracts, carotenoids, cake aeration and whipped topping systems, fat powders, flavours, lipids, natural mould inhibitors, omega, resistant starches, sour doughs, textured wheat protein, TG-based meat binders and vitamins.
The company also has enzymes for processing fruit and wine, meat binding and lactase for use in dairy products.
Horizon Science has developed a process to selectively concentrate naturally occurring bioactive components from sugar cane molasses - Benecarb - natural functional ingredient addressing glucose response. This dark-coloured syrup, with sweet ‘molasses‐like’ taste, contains high levels of natural antioxidants. It is 100% natural and claimed to lower the blood glucose response of a range of high carbohydrate foods and beverages. With applications in baked goods, beverages, liquid pre-mixes and more, Benecarb works well with sweet and savoury flavours. Raw sugar treated with Benecarb has been commercialised as LoGiCane - low glycaemic index (GI) sugar.
