Boxes on demand: machine revolutionises packaging practices

No more time wasted making boxes and no more issues with box warehouse logistics, the Boxway Fitsize 2500 Box On Demand machine from Graph-Pak is designed to help.

While recently exhibiting its innovative Boxway Fitsize 2500 Box On Demand machine at APPEX 2024 in Melbourne, Tom Ralph was approached by many visitors from all different industries who expressed how they have wasted time sourcing and making boxes, which has resulted in damaged goods by shipping products in unsuitable boxes. They also complained about holding inventory in cartons and logistic issues due to minimum order quantities required for boxes which don’t even fit all their purposes.

Ralph was able to help these visitors by showing them the future of box production — a machine that’s designed to revolutionise packaging practices across various industries.

Using the Boxway Fitsize 2500 machine, users can make boxes on demand, eliminating the need for extensive box warehouse management.

By simply selecting the desired box type and dimensions on the touch screen, a perfectly sized box will be produced instantly.

Users are then able to efficiently package their goods in precisely sized boxes, which is a huge advancement on previous practices which were limited to only standard sized boxes or unsuitably large boxes for this task.

“You can design your own boxes or design a variation from our 200+ design options,” said Ralph.

“You can add extra anti-crush barriers to these boxes to help deliver your goods safely and professionally with a minimum of fuss.

“The machine can be programmed by an operator in seconds, the box blank is made in 10–12 seconds!”

Example of a custom-designed edge protection box

Available with optional 3D scanner conveying, inline weigh scale, label applicator and black and white or high-resolution colour plug-and-play printers, this cutting-edge box maker comes in a choice of widths of 1600 or 2500 mm and features two rear stands for feeding fan fold corrugated materials.

Designed to comply with European safety standards, the machine is equipped with Japan MITSUBISHI servo motor with high precision as standard. This contributes to the box making machines with great stability and accuracy of each mechanism to make right-sized boxes.

The HMI of the box making machines are already integrated with the industrial PC, the network connection can be done by using RJ45 cable or Wi-Fi. There is no requirement on an extra PC for the connection.

Other features include:

  • Remote monitoring maintenance system for faster access from the manufacturer for maintenance.
  • When the longitudinal units are sufficient, the feeding direction is rotatable for cardboards with insufficient width or special box styles to increase machine flexibility.
  • The interface will display the location of all the sensors on the machine and the user can determine whether the sensors are activated by looking through the map.
  • Besides the box types that exist in the system, users can edit their special box type on the interface.
  • The system will automatically save the production data for users to review, including the date, time, box type, box dimension, quantity, etc, with searches based on the date.
