The Milk Guard Dairy Screen and Farm Set for Beginners detect antibiotic residues in milk.
Testing for the presence of Beta Lactam antibiotics is a requirement for dairies of all sizes in Australia. The Milk Guard Dairy Screen provides a result in 10 minutes and does not require any equipment.
The test is done at room temperature and read visually, so users do not require an incubator or reader. The kit contains everything needed to perform the test, including test wells and disposable pipettes. Also available is a Milk Guard Combo test that detects the presence of tetracyclines as well as beta lactams.
Milk producers can carry out tests for inhibitors themselves with the Farm Set for Beginners. All equipment required to carry out the test is contained within a case.
Farmers can test milk from treated cows after the withdrawal time has elapsed as well as milk before it is collected to ensure it is free of inhibitors. Results are available in 2.5 h and are easily interpreted by a colour change.
