Sherpa targets 'last mile' delivery needs

Monday, 21 March, 2016

Sherpa has announced it will add four-hour and same-day delivery services to its current delivery platform for individuals and businesses.

The Australian start-up offers national on-demand delivery through its network of drivers. Originally offering an express two-hour delivery time, Sherpa will now offer four-hour and same-day services across six cities (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Perth and Adelaide). Same-day delivery jobs will provide delivery between 7 am and 5.30 pm with no specific time sensitivity.

Offering a disruptive delivery network composed of crowdsourced drivers, Sherpa’s growing focus is on providing businesses with the technology and delivery network to streamline their delivery options.

Businesses can either book manually or integrate Sherpa into their online stores or POS systems to process the job automatically. The request is processed by Sherpa’s delivery engine based on the delivery requirements. The driver best suited to a job will be alerted to accept the delivery and provided optimal route suggestions.

Sherpa co-founder Ben Nowlan commented, “Adding another string to our bow helps us to provide our customers a complete service as we look to owning last-mile delivery. This is great for deliveries with lower urgency and great for businesses as we take the next step in consolidating their delivery services. We want to be the only provider that businesses think about when it comes to last mile needs.

“We’ve seen a great level of custom across the small business sector and we think this option will extend our appeal for a wide variety of services and businesses,” added Nowlan.
